This capstone course enables students to work in a team environment on an authentic information system industry-based project with either a real industry client or within an internal simulated environment. The projects are challenging and complex with the expected outcome being that real value is added to existing or simulated information system related problems. This course addresses the professional body requirement for students to apply their analytical problem-solving skills to a real-life scenario.

Working in teams, students will analyse the client's business requirements in the context of opportunities and/or problems. Applying high level project management skills within a professional code of conduct, students will design, develop, analyse and appraise potential and feasible solutions to address a client's business problems. Students will report back to the client using high level written and verbal communication skills to bring the project to completion.

On successful completion of this course students should be able to:

1. design and develop a real world information systems project with a real industry client or simulated with an internal role or industry client or simulated with an internal role or industry client supported by appropriate planning, analytical and problem-solving techniques;
2. effectively communicate to a diverse audience;
3. appraise an ICT problem and design a solution drawing on creativity and initiative to provide potential and feasible solution(s) to address a client's business information system's needs;
4. critically reflect on the process of planning and implementing the project including their own and/or others' contributions;
5. collaborate successfully with stakeholders as part of a team to plan and deliver a project within resources constraints (time, cost, scope and quality);
6. make appropriate judgments informed by ethics, professional codes of conduct, and culture awareness within the IS work environment.
