Overview

The Commercial Construction Course builds on the principles that students have learnt in previous studies. This course aims to provide students with a higher-level knowledge in the areas such as project planning, decisions making and management strategies which enable them to more effectively manage the project from early stages the completion phases.

This course aims to provide the graduate construction professionals an understanding of commercial construction management processes, techniques and systems. This course also seeks to provide information and knowledge that will assist the professional in evaluating and proposing alternative construction systems that may benefit the project outcome.

Course learning outcomes

The course objectives define the student learning outcomes for a course. On completion of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Plan and implement the commercial construction project management process from pre-construction to completion;
  2. Investigate the principles of sustainable commercial construction Analyse and interpret construction drawings related to commercial constructions;
  3. Advanced project scheduling, agile planning and methodology;
  4. Appraise commercial construction process from beginning to completion. Effectively communicate proposals to management that benefit the project in terms of considerations such as time, cost, safety, risk and quality;
  5. Demonstrate written and communication skills to a professional standard.
