Synopsis
This course will provide students with the opportunity to establish foundational knowledge of concepts that are important to the role of paramedics. Students will have the opportunity to examine the history of pre-hospital care, structure and function of ambulance services in Australia and internationally, and the role of paramedics within the health care system and vulnerable people. Additionally, students will determine the importance of infection control through the use of universal precautions and personal protective equipment. Finally, this course will enable students to be exposed to common medical terminology to assist them communicate in a professional manner suitable to the healthcare environment and strengthen their role in the broader healthcare team.
