This course provides the opportunity for a student to pursue an area of study in science that will complement the other program studies. Typically the course will consist of specialised investigations extending knowledge and skills in a certain area. The area of study chosen will be assigned after consultation with the examiner and a staff member with expertise in the area concerned. On completion of this course students are expected to have gained expert, specialised cognitive and technical skills in a body of knowledge or practice to independently analyse critically, reflect on and synthesise complex information, problems, concepts and theories. Assessment will be via an essay.
