Overview
The health and wellbeing of people working in and serviced by organisations is largely a product of how well they are managed and led. Since the advent of privatisation and corporatism in the 1980s, health and social care organisations, particularly those financed and operated publicly, have had to trade traditional forms of administration and governance for new approaches to management and leadership. Managers and leaders must develop the knowledge and skills needed to make their organisations more effective and efficient.
This course introduces students to current and emerging trends in organisational leadership, management, and entrepreneurship. Content delivered enables students to understand the fundamental distinction between management and leadership and discriminate between approaches to these that are most suited to the development of a socially enterprising organisational culture.
