Overview

This course addresses contemporary healthcare issues that affect paediatric, geriatric and bariatric people. Indeed, obesity is a major concern across all age groups resulting in an increase in morbidity and carries significant complications requiring attendance by ambulance services. Ageing and obesity are associated with higher rates of chronic illnesses, co-morbidities and use of health services in general.

This course will build on all the content addressed throughout this program and requires students to apply knowledge and principles to three specific health subsets within a population. Although the principles of assessment, diagnosis and management remain the same, they are applied differently in relation to children, the elderly and obese based on their specific developmental, physiological, pathological and psychosocial requirements.
