Overview

Professional work experience allows a transfer of the student鈥檚 theoretical, practical and research knowledge, skills, and capabilities to the professional workplace. This course enables students to apply their academic knowledge and research skills in a practical context, and to reflect and report on the experience while contributing to a specific practical activity or initiative.
Candidates undertaking research in the disciplines listed below should enrol in this course for the semester of industry placement.
Discipline areas include: Engineering and Built Environment, Health and Community (with sub-areas of Biomedical and Laboratory Medicine, and Psychology), and Sciences (all sub-areas except Applied Data Science, Mathematics and Statistics).

The purpose of this course is to give students the opportunity to experience the applied aspects of their research through working in the area of their primary research focus. This course aims to provide the student with experience in applying discipline knowledge and skills in the context of professional practice in order to strengthen discipline-specific research, learning, and specialisation.
