Experience and networking
Mentoring
The UniSQ Career Mentoring Program is designed to connect you (the mentee) with an experienced industry professional (the mentor) in order to build your employability skills and prepare you for the transition from university to employment.
If you are interested in mentoring you can find more information here, or contact the Careers & Employability Team at careers@unisq.edu.au.
Work Experience
Work experience provides you with skills and knowledge that will make you stand out to potential employers.
Not only does it give you the chance to apply theory to real-life scenarios, but it’s also an opportunity to diversify your skills and be exposed to the challenges of your industry before you hit the ground as a graduate. It also enables you to start building your networks for when you’re looking for a graduate role.
There are numerous ways you can formally undertake work experience, and if formally approved by UniSQ, we are able to offer insurance coverage to support your work experience placement.
Speak to the Careers and Employability team to identify what type of work experience program would be suit you.
Volunteering

Networking
By increasing the number of people you know, you'll increase the number of opportunities you can explore. It's really that simple. Of course, the more people you know in your industry, the better for job opportunities.
UniSQ Careers and Employability run numerous events (in person and online) to allow students the chance to network with employers. Networking events can be intimidating, but we’re here to offer supporting preparing for and making the most of these events.
