Learning advisors
Types of Advisors
Discipline Learning Advisors provide learning support in discipline areas including education, engineering, sciences, IT, business, law, health, communities, creative arts, humanities, and communication. Learning Advisors also assist students who are studying courses at the UniSQ College and College for First Nations.
Learning Advisors can assist with the below topics and more:
- Academic writing
- Unpacking assessment tasks and questions
- Goal setting, time management, and self-regulated learning
- Communication and teamwork skills
- Academic integrity
- General learning and study strategies, such as exam preparation and learning from lectures
Maths Learning Advisors assist students to develop their numeracy skills. They can help with the below areas:
- How to study mathematics and statistics
- Exam preparation
- Calculator use
- Question analysis
- Pre-requisite and assumed knowledge; and
- Med+Safe and LANTITE preparation
First Nations Learning Advisors are also available and can support both First Nations and non-indigenous students from a culturally informed lens.
Our First Nations Learning Advisors can provide support across many disciplines (excluding mathematics). Support can include:
- Informed academic upskilling
- Assisting First Nations students to engage holistically with university life
- Educational support for students studying courses with a First Nations perspective
