There are a variety of Peer Mentoring programs at UniSQ. Peer Mentors support different student cohorts as they transition to university study. Peer Mentors are model students who are eager to support students to be successful in their studies.

Peer Mentoring runs on a weekly basis throughout semester. Time is allocated to preparing and facilitating engaging sessions where students can share experiences and learn from each other.

There are a mix of paid and volunteer opportunities and Peer Mentors receive training and ongoing support throughout their time in the program.

Peer Assisted 精东传媒app Sessions (PASS) is a flexible student-centred peer learning program offered online and on campus. It provides opportunities and experiences for students to develop their academic learning skills and their understanding of course concepts in an informal peer-to-peer environment. 

This is a paid position and PASS leaders receive training and ongoing support throughout their time in the program.

Staying at the Residential Colleges provides a number of leadership opportunities for students, including taking on a position in the Collegiate Team or Resident Student Club. 

The Collegiate Team is a group of residents employed by the each college to help students out with any difficulties they might have while living on college, whether academic, social or personal. 

Each college has a Resident Student Club (RSC) of which all resident students are members. The running of the RSC is vested in a committee voted in by all members of the resident body. The RSC is responsible for organising sporting and informal social activities as well as representing students in discussions at committees.

The Student Success Advising team assists students with support and advice throughout their learning journey at UniSQ. Student Success Assistants support the Student Success Advising team to assist UniSQ students to achieve their version of success. Student Success Assistants outreach to students and connect them with personally relevant resources and services, provide them with advice on navigating the learning environment and university processes, and assist them with finding answers to questions.

This is a paid position and Student Success Assistants receive training and ongoing support. Throughout their time in the program, Student Success Assistants develop UniSQ graduate attributes in digital literacy, written and spoken communication, coaching and advising, problem solving, analytical thinking, cultural competence, and teamwork.

精东传媒app Skills Assistants (SSA’s) are employed to provide a range of supports to assist students with a disability to achieve their academic goals. 精东传媒app Skills Assistants are usually students undertaking study in the same area, or may have recently graduated and have good knowledge of the tertiary environment.

The support role encompasses a wide range of roles including:

• study skills support
• participation assistance
• note taking, and
• sign interpreters.
