Choose from a range of hands-on sessions, including:

  • The psychology of sleep
  • Paramedicine skills challenge
  • Wildlife detectives

Whether you're dreaming of a career solving global business problems, inspiring young minds, constructing the world we live in, or fighting for justice in a court room, there is no limit to what you can do with UniSQ by your side.

Session 1

Students will be able to select from one of the following sessions.

Experience Nursing as a career at UniSQ in our simulated clinical laboratories
This 90 minute session will give you a hands-on look at Nursing using the latest clinical simulation technology led by experienced registered nurses

Occupational Therapy
You will have the opportunity to learn about what is occupational therapy and find out information on the degree at UniSQ. You will then work through a series of stations to experience what an occupational therapist might do to support someone in contexts. Occupational therapists explore things like what people need to do to take care of themselves (or others), engage in work or volunteering, and to participate in hobbies, interests, and social events they enjoy.

Paramedicine Skills Challenge
Students are given an overview of the paramedicine discipline and can participate in a number of activates - CPR Challenge, Patient extrication/medication calculation, Splinting and bandaging & Simulation facility tour.

Physiotherapy - Let’s get physical with physiotherapy
This session will give you hands on experience doing physiotherapy-related activities when rehabilitating a person with a knee injury

Social Work and Human Services - mapping the territory
Students will explore the diversity of the purposes and activities that social workers and human service workers engage in.

Speech Pathology - Communication, Compassion, Connection
In this interactive and experiential university activity, students will dive deep into the world of communication difficulties and their profound impacts on individuals. This hands-on experience aims to develop an understanding of the challenges faced by those with communication disorders, fostering empathy and compassion among potential speech pathology students.

Sport and Exercise Science: Fitness Testing workshop and Biomechanics workshop
These workshops are two events in the Sport and Exercise Science Medley. In the Fitness Testing workshop you will learn how to test the various parameters of human fitness while in the Biomechanics workshop you will learn how to capture data on the movement of humans while walking and jumping.

The psychology of sleep
Students will go on a tour of the UniSQ Sleep and Cognition Laboratories and learn about research that probes the links between sleep, circadian rhythms, vision, and mental and physical wellbeing. The tour will culminate in a discussion of UniSQ Psychology study opportunities linked to these themes.

Wildlife Detectives
Australia’s wildlife ranges from tiny planigales up to large kangaroos. Work together to work out who is who in the zoo and see what it’s like to study wildlife at uni!

Students will be able to select from one of the following sessions.

Sport and Exercise Science: Functional Anatomy and EMG workshop and The bones of the matter workshop
These workshops are two events in the Sport and Exercise Science Medley. In the Functional Anatomy and EMG workshop you will learn about how muscles produce movement. In the Bones of the matter workshop you will work with real human bone (deceased), identifying each bone and locating it within the human skeleton, learning the names and relationships of the bones. You will then learn about how bone responds to loading, and try out exercises to increase bone mineral density, including running, weight lifting, and vibration.
