Program aims
The Master of Arts (English Studies) has been designed to accommodate
the needs of practising secondary school teachers seeking career development
opportunities as required by the Queensland Department of Education.
The eight unit degree is designed for students seeking to extend their
knowledge of English studies and the range of methodologies historically
and currently applied in the field. It will provide an alternative
to the MEd for those students specifically seeking to enhance their
knowledge of discipline content. In particular, the program has been
designed to enhance students' knowledge of theoretical approaches
and applied content that will be required in the new school English

curriculum into the area of cultural studies, media studies, popular
cultural forms and comparisons between canonical and popular forms.
Program objectives
The Master of Arts (English Studies) aims to:

-
facilitate the development and consolidation of a body of specialist
knowledge and competencies in the field of English studies with specific

-
develop in students an understanding and awareness of scholarly
literature and research in English studies
