Program focus
The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws aims to produce graduates
who meet the aims and objectives of both the Bachelor of Arts and
the Bachelor of Laws degree programs. This combined degree offers
students the benefit of exposure to multiple disciplines.
Career opportunities
Private practice solicitor or barrister, government departments,
non-government agencies, legal organisations, journalist, public relations
practitioner, media company, communications consultant.
Professional accreditation
The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws has been accredited
by the Legal Practitioners Admissions Board, Queensland, and the Chief
Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland as an approved academic
qualification under the Supreme Court (Legal Practitioner Admission)
Rules 2004 (Qld). This will partially satisfy the requirements
to practise as a solicitor or barrister in Queensland, or as a legal
practitioner elsewhere in Australia. Intending solicitors and barristers
must also complete an approved practical legal training course in
order to become admitted to practice. USQ law graduates have the option
of completing their practical legal training through a one-year traineeship
in a law practice, or through an institution that offers a practical
legal training qualification.
Program aims
The program aims to produce graduates who meet the aims and
objectives of both the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Laws degree
programs. This combined degree offers students the benefit of exposure
to multiple disciplines.
Admission requirements
Candidates for admission to this program must satisfy the normal
USQ entry requirements for undergraduate programs. Please refer to , Section 2.2.1 (for Australian

Commonwealth supported place
A Commonwealth supported place is where the Australian Government
makes a contribution towards the cost of your higher education and
you as a student pay a , which varies depending on the

Domestic full fee paying place
Domestic full fee paying places are funded entirely through
the full fees paid by the student. Full fees vary depending on the

outside Australia pay full tuition fees.

Exit points
If students commence the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws
and wish to exit with a Bachelor of Arts,
then they may do so if they have completed the Arts core course , 2 Arts majors,
4 courses in Law constituting a minor study in Law and 3 electives.
Students would however need to complete 2 additional Arts core courses, plus one core course
from the list applicable to the Bachelor of Arts.
Exemptions
Exemptions may be permitted for a limited number of courses,
equivalent in content and level, successfully completed recently with
a recognised institution, in accordance with Section 3.5 of the .
