Program focus
In this double degree, students will complete one major (8 -
12 units) from the Bachelor of Arts and one
major (8 - 12 units) from the Bachelor of Science, as well as the core courses from both programs. In so doing, students
will meet the major requirements for both degrees. This combination
will require a total of four years of full-time study or up to nine
years of part-time study.

The program aims to produce graduates who meet the aims and
objectives of both the Bachelor of Arts and
the Bachelor of Science degree programs. See

How to apply
Domestic students
may be made through the Queensland
Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC). The same procedure applies whether
you plan to study on-campus or by distance education.
If you completed Year 12 at a Queensland secondary school you
will be assessed for entry on the basis of your Overall Position (OP)
or equivalent score. Year 12 students from other states or territories
are considered for entry on the basis of their UAI, ENTER or TER and
the subject prerequisites indicated. Other applicants will be based
on their overall Rank.
International students
This program is offered to international students. An international
student is a person who is not an Australian or New Zealand citizen
and not an Australian permanent resident. Please refer to for information about entry requirements, visa arrangements and

A Commonwealth supported place is where the Australian Government
makes a contribution towards the cost of your higher education and

Domestic full fee paying places are funded entirely

Australian citizens, Permanent Humanitarian Visa

on the courses that are taken and whether they are studied on-campus,

Program structure
The program comprises 32 units as follows:

Note: Entry into the practical elements of the Visual
Arts, Music and Theatre majors may only be taken in conjunction with
the Psychology major and are subject to an interview and submission
of an acceptable folio during Orientation Week. Intakes for these
double degree majors are only offered in Semester 1. Students undertaking

Required time limits
Students have a maximum of 9 years to complete this program.

The Arts component shall comprise:

Science Studies
The Science component shall comprise:
Either:

an eight-unit discipline based major chosen from the majors
under the Bachelor of Science (i.e. Biology,
Computing, Environment and Sustainability, Human Physiology, Mathematics,
Physical Sciences). (Note: the Mathematics major requires students
to have achieved a level of Sound Achievement over four semesters
in Queensland Senior (Year 12) Mathematics B or equivalent).

a four-unit study selected from one discipline offered by the
Faculty of Sciences. This four-unit study may or may not be in the
same discipline as the eight-unit Science major

One elective approved by the Faculty of Sciences.

a twelve-unit discipline based major chosen from the majors
under the Bachelor of Science (i.e. Psychology,
Information Technology or Mathematics and Statistics) and one Faculty
of Sciences approved elective which may either extend the studies
already selected or may be in an additional Science discipline area.
(Note 1: the 12 unit major in Psychology in an Australian Psychology
Accreditation Council accredited sequence in Psychology and students
undertaking this major are eligible to apply to undertake the Bachelor
of Science (Honours) (Psychology) degree and thus pursue further training
to become a Psychologist.
Note 2: the Mathematics and Statistics major requires students
to have achieved a level of Sound Achievement over four semesters
in Queensland Senior (Year 12) Mathematics B or equivalent).
Additional Requirements - Science

At least four units of study in the Science component must be
at third level.

Students not completing the major in Computing (eight-unit major),
Mathematics (eight-unit major), Mathematics and Statistics (twelve-unit
major) or Information Technology (twelve-unit major) must complete
the course or the course
. Students may need to take this course as their science
elective.

Candidates completing the major in Mathematics or Mathematics
and Statistics will not be given credit towards their award for the
course or for the course
.

Candidates completing the major in Computing or Information
Technology will not be given credit towards their award for the course .
Recommended enrolment pattern

Students will normally take the core course in Semester 1 and in Semester 2 as
well as another approved core course in each of their first two semesters.

Students will normally start the Arts major in Semester 1 of
first year and continue it in Semester 2 of first year. The Arts minor
is usually started in Semester 1 of second year.

The Science major is usually started in Semester 1 of first
year and continued in Semester 2 of first year. The Science minor
study is usually started in second year subject to timetabling constraints.

Elective courses are usually taken in third or fourth years
unless required as pre-requisites.
