Program aims
This is a generalist and collaborative program offered by the
Open Access College and the Faculty of Health, Engineering and Sciences.
The first four courses provide students with the necessary skills
and knowledge that are essential for success at the university level
of study. The remaining courses from the Faculty of Health, Engineering
and Sciences provide an introduction to studying social science related
courses at first year level.
Program objectives
On the successful completion of the Diploma of Social Studies
Foundations graduates will have:

program of study in the Faculty of Health, Engineering and Sciences

acquired sufficient knowledge about human services programs
of study to make an informed choice about further undergraduate study
in the Faculty of Health, Engineering and Sciences

a series of first year undergraduate human services courses
Admission requirements
There is no specified minimum educational achievement entrance
standard.
Normally, to be eligible for enrolment in the program a person
will have attained an age of at least 18 years in the year of the
proposed enrolment.
Students will need to complete the online application form
for entry to the Diploma Programs. All applicants are required to
complete online diagnostic tests in Mathematics, e-literacy, and English
Communication Skills. Applicants will then be given advice detailing
whether the Diploma Program is the most appropriate pathway for them
to undertake. Some students may be advised to undertake the Tertiary Preparation Program .
Domestic and International Applicants from a non-English speaking
background are required to satisfy .

A Commonwealth supported place is where the Australian Government
makes a contribution towards the cost of your higher education and

Program structure
The Program consists of four core courses followed by four foundation
courses in the social sciences. Students must successfully complete
the four compulsory core courses before they will be enrolled in the
four foundation social science courses.

To successfully complete the Diploma of Social Studies Foundations
students must successfully complete the four compulsory core courses,

Students undertaking the Diploma of Social Science Foundations
