Program aims

The program aims to produce graduates who have:

  • advanced knowledge and skills for professional or highly skilled work and/or further learning

  • advanced theoretical and technical knowledge in their particular discipline / area of practice

  • the ability to apply advanced cognitive, technical and communication skills to analyse critically, evaluate and transform information to complete a range of activities

  • the ability to apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, well-developed judgment, adaptability and responsibility as a practitioner and learner.

Program objectives

On successful completion of the program, students should be able to demonstrate:

  • specialised knowledge within a coherent body of knowledge that may include the acquisition and application of knowledge and skills in a new or existing professional area

  • a discriminating application of methods, concepts, techniques and theories in the creation of discipline-based and projects in professional and learning contexts

  • genuine engagement with relevant industry bodies and networks that will enable them to develop the 鈥╳ork ethic necessary for practice as an independent, articulate professional creative artist

  • cognitive skills to review, analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge to transfer creative ideas to a variety of audiences

  • a high level of independent judgements to initiate, plan, implement and evaluate broad functions within varied technical and creative contexts.

Admission requirements

The requirements described in this section are the generic requirements for entry to the Graduate Certificate of Digital Production and Performance program. Some majors may have additional specific requirements

Standard Entry

To be eligible for admission to the program, applicants are required to complete a three year Bachelor degree particularly a Bachelor of Creative Arts, Bachelor of Applied Media, Bachelor of Arts or equivalent from a recognised university normally with a minimum GPA of 5.0.

Additional Entry Requirements

  • Applicants for entry into the Graduate Certificate of Digital Production and Performance must have completed a major in their discipline area or have equivalent professional experience.

  • Applicants must also include a report of no more than two pages, addressing the following:

    • curriculum vitae including previous Acting, Scriptwriting or TV Production experience within the last 3 years

    • a statement on their intended career pathway /trajectory, 300 words

    • Acting: Self-produced 3-minute showreel and screen test. Choose one of the screen tests: , , or .

    • Scriptwriting: 5 to 10 pages of an original television script and 150 word synopsis of the submitted television script.

    • TV Production: 3-minute showreel in their area of expertise (camera-work, sound, editing, design, etc.)



All students are required to satisfy the applicable .

Domestic full fee paying place

Domestic full fee paying places are funded entirely through the full fees paid by the student. Full fees vary depending on the courses that are taken. You are able to calculate the fees for a particular course via the

Specialisation

There is an emphasis on practical engagement in these courses in order to prepare students for the requirements of the broadcast and production industries. These are necessary for the completion of this program. Practical components will consist of activities such as: group/ensemble work, studio/technical sessions, guest industry-professional intensives and private study (that may involve active participation in an online learning environment).

Students can only study the specific suite of courses recommended for each individual specialisation.

  • Acting x 4 courses: a combination of on-campus intensives and individual skill attainment. Students will work with industry professionals to develop acting, voice, interpretive and analysis skills to apply in preparation for specifically small screen broadcast and performance.

  • Scriptwriting x 4 courses: online courses creating a wide variety of writing experiences for broadcast and performance. Technical, creative and analytical script-work for public broadcast.

  • Television Production x 4 courses: a combination of on-campus intensives, individual application, engagement with television production networks and actors/scriptwriters. Technical, creative and analytical development of skills across a variety of broadcast opportunities.
