Junior Health and Physical Education (HPE) (Secondary)
Students are able to enrol in any offered mode of a course (on-campus, external or online), regardless of the program mode of study they enrolled in.
This minor is only available to students who are studying
the Bachelor of Education.
Health and Physical
Education focuses on the scientific bases of human movement including,
anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology and sports psychology;
skill acquisition and development; sociocultural underpinnings of
sport and physical activity and the study of personal, social and
community health and wellbeing from a socio-ecological perspective.

Students wishing to teach Junior HPE as a minor Teaching
Area must complete a minimum of 4 and maximum of 6 Teaching Area
courses and 1 Teaching Area specific curriculum and pedagogy course.
Once employed, in most schools it would be expected that you could
teach: HPE in Years 7 – 10.
