Legal Studies (Secondary)
Students are able to enrol in any offered mode of a course (on-campus, external or online), regardless of the program mode of study they enrolled in.
This minor is only available to students who are studying
the Bachelor of Education.
Responsible
citizens should develop a basic understanding of the operation of
our legal system in order to understand the interplay of ‘law
in society’. Legal Studies provides basic legal knowledge and
awareness of the range of regulatory laws (rules) and the procedures
for empowering all stakeholders to contribute to, and participate
in, responsible citizenship. Please refer to the for further information.
Students wishing to teach Legal Studies
as a minor Teaching Area must complete a minimum of 4 and maximum
of 6 Teaching Area courses. Students beginning in 2014 or later are
required to complete at least 4 content courses and 1 Teaching Area
specific curriculum and pedagogy course. Once employed, in most schools
it would be expected that you could teach Years 11 and 12 Legal Studies.
