Professional accreditation

Accounting major graduates will meet the educational entrance requirements of and (CAANZ). This provides Associate membership of CPA Australia, eligibility to study the CPA Australia professional exams and eligibility to study the CAANZ professional exams.

Successful completion of the Accounting major can qualify students for exemptions from the Fundamental level (9 papers) of the (ACCA) exams.

Students who complete the Finance minor in the Bachelor of Commerce will meet the educational entrance requirements of the . Finance major graduates will meet the educational entrance requirements to become a member of the .

The Information Technology Management major within the Bachelor of Commerce is accredited at professional level by the and, through the Seoul Accord, is recognised in other countries.

The Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business provides a sound foundation in all aspects of accounting and sustainable business. These degrees are vocationally oriented emphasising the sustainable management and resolution of business problems in both private and public sectors.

Program completion requirements

To be eligible to graduate with the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business, students must complete (or be awarded credit for prior equivalent study of) all 32 courses as outlined above.

Where credit for prior study is awarded, a student must complete at least eight courses from the Bachelor of Commerce and at least eight courses from the Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business (16 in total) to be eligible to graduate with the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business double degree.

Students may exit with either the Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business or Bachelor of Commerce providing they have completed all the requirements for the program.

Credit

Credit may be permitted for a limited number of courses, equivalent in content and level, successfully completed recently with a recognised institution.

Each claim will be assessed on individual merit in line with USQ policy. Credit approved in this program will not automatically apply to other programs offered by USQ.

Where credit is granted, maximum and minimum duration will be adjusted in the same proportion as credit, for example, where eight units of credit is granted, maximum time will be six years and minimum time will be four semesters.

Note: Accounting professional bodies may have restrictions on credit so students are advised to seek current information from these bodies before applying for credit.
