Program aims
The program aims to enhance the practice of experienced nurses in the areas of clinical practice, management or education.
Program objectives
On completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

use research evidence to improve the quality of care delivered within their sphere of influence

use contemporary leadership theory, including leadership styles to function as effective leaders in their chosen area of nursing or health care

act as mentors for, and give support to, fellow nurses or other health care workers to enhance quality of care provision and embed principles of lifelong learning into their practice
-
understand and implement ethical research principles and practices

design and implement a research project or significant scholarly activity within a selected discipline area
-
apply current research techniques and methodology in pursuit of specific research goals

demonstrate competence in and appropriate use of language and literacy, including spelling, grammar, punctuation and bibliographic referencing.
Australian Qualifications Framework
The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is a single national, comprehensive system of qualifications offered by higher education institutions (including universities), vocational education and training institutions and secondary schools. Each AQF qualification has a set of descriptors which define the type and complexity of knowledge, skills and application of knowledge and skills that a graduate who has been awarded that qualification has attained, and the typical volume of learning associated with that qualification type.
This program is at AQF Qualification Level 09. Graduates at this level will have specialised knowledge and skills for research, and/or professional practice and/or further learning.

Admission requirements
To be eligible for admission, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

Completion of an Australian university or equivalent three year Bachelor degree in the area of Nursing.

Current Professional Registration as a Division 1 Nurse or equivalent with either Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or relevant regulatory body in applicant's home country.

A minimum of one years' professional work experience.

English Language Proficiency requirements for Category 3.
All students are required to satisfy the applicable .
If students do not meet the English language requirements they may apply to study a 精东传媒app-approved . On successful completion of the English language program, students may be admitted to an award program.
Requirements for professional experience placements
There are no clinical requirements in this program unless candidates select an approved course that contains a clinical requirement. Courses with a clinical requirement are not available to International students.

Commonwealth supported place
A Commonwealth supported place is where the Australian Government makes a contribution towards the cost of a students' higher education and students pay a , which varies depending on the courses undertaken. Students are able to calculate the fees for a particular course via the .

Australian citizens, Permanent Humanitarian Visa holders, Permanent Resident visa holders and New Zealand citizens who will be resident outside Australia for the duration of their program pay full tuition fees and are not eligible for .

Program structure
The Master's program contains twelve units. There are nine compulsory courses of one unit each and three units as approved courses.
Program completion requirements
To qualify for the award of Master of Nursing, a candidate must complete or be exempted from courses with a total value of twelve units within five years of first admission to the program, subject to the following.
Of the units counted to qualify for the award:

nine units made up of the following courses:

three units shall be for postgraduate (Level 5 or 8) courses, approved by the Program Coordinator or selected from the list of approved courses below.
Electives/Approved courses
Students may select three (3) approved courses from the following list, or from the courses in the Graduate Certificate of Health , without requiring the approval of the Faculty of Health, Engineering and Sciences. Any other choice of approved course(s) must be approved by the Faculty of Health, Engineering and Sciences.

Students should note that the offering of approved courses is dependent upon the number of students enrolling in a course being at least 10. Students should enrol in the courses of their choice but will be informed as soon as practicable if any of these courses are not to be offered.

Students should visit the USQ to check that their computers are capable of running the appropriate software and versions of Internet web browsers and to check the minimum and recommended standards for software.
Exit points
Students enrolled in the MNSG program who wish to exit without completing the program may be awarded the Graduate Diploma of Nursing (GDNG) if they have successfully completed or obtain credit/exemptions for ; ; ; ; ; plus two approved courses.
Credit
Candidates must complete at least six units of courses offered by USQ whilst enrolled in this program so at most six units of exemptions may be applied for on the basis of approved relevant study undertaken at USQ, other universities or the Australian College of Nursing.
