Professional accreditation
The Master of Clinical Psychology has received accreditation from the as a fifth and sixth year program in psychology. Graduates will be eligible to apply for general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, and, Clinical Endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia after a period of supervised practice in an approved Psychology Board of Australia registrar program. Graduates will also be able to apply for full membership to the and admission to the College of Clinical Psychology of the Australian Psychological Society after a period of supervised practice.
Program aims
The aim of the Master of Clinical Psychology is to provide advanced knowledge of the discipline in the core areas of professional practice which comprise the competency standards of the Psychology Board of Australia and prepare students for entry into the Clinical Registrar program leading to Clinical Endorsement. On completion of the program, graduates will:

be eligible for general registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia

be eligible to gain an Area of Practice endorsement in Clinical Psychology, after completion of the Clinical Psychology registrar program

be able to apply for positions which require a postgraduate degree in Psychology or Clinical Psychology

take an active role in the theoretical and practical aspects of the practice of Clinical Psychology

contribute to the overall development of the disciplines of Psychology and Clinical Psychology.
Program objectives
On completion of this program, students should be able to:

Select and critically apply an appropriate evidence-based approach to Clinical Psychology practice that is informed by the scientist practitioner framework.

Critically evaluate the scope of Clinical psychology practice, including how Clinical Psychology integrates within an interprofessional context.

Integrate and apply advanced ethical, legal, and professional frameworks in relation to the practice of Clinical Psychology

Critically apply a range of advanced skills and theoretical knowledge to conduct comprehensive psychological assessments using a variety of different techniques and instruments.

Evaluate psychological disorders utilising international taxonomies of classification

Strategically utilise advanced knowledge and skills in individual and group Clinical Psychology interventions.

Apply high level research knowledge and skills to psychological practice.

Employ a range of high level technical and communication skills to evaluate and interpret information in oral, written and digital formats.

Integrate and apply advanced knowledge and skills regarding the provision of Clinical Psychology services across the lifespan, in a culturally responsive manner.

Apply advanced theoretical knowledge and technical skills in the workplace within the scope of Clinical Psychology practice.
Australian Qualifications Framework
The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is a single national, comprehensive system of qualifications offered by higher education institutions (including universities), vocational education and training institutions and secondary schools. Each AQF qualification has a set of descriptors which define the type and complexity of knowledge, skills and application of knowledge and skills that a graduate who has been awarded that qualification has attained, and the typical volume of learning associated with that qualification type.
This program is at AQF Qualification Level 09. Graduates at this level will have specialised knowledge and skills for research, and/or professional practice and/or further learning.

Admission requirements
To be eligible for admission, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited AQF Level 8 four-year bachelor degree, or equivalent

Hold, or be eligible for, immediate Provisional Registration or General Registration from the Psychology Board of Australia

English Language Proficiency requirements for Category 4.
In addition, applicants must submit the following for consideration as part of their application:

be assessed in a face-to-face interview with a panel of School staff

provide an academic transcript demonstrating strong academic performance

Applicants who have not completed their four-year bachelor degree, or equivalent, within the last three years will be required to demonstrate how they have maintained up-to-date knowledge and skills in the area of Psychology since completion of their four-year bachelor degree, or equivalent

Requirements for professional experience placements
Practicum experience is an integral component of the program and as per external accreditation requirements, each student is required to accrue a minimum of 1000 hours of practicum experience, plus at least 81 hours of supervision from a registered psychologist who is an accredited supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Program structure
The Master of Clinical Psychology consists of 16 units comprising 12 units of coursework and 4 units of practicum.
The program is designed for full-time or part-time attendance in the on-campus mode.

Program completion requirements
To be eligible to graduate, students must pass all 16 courses within the maximum time frame of 4 years, and with a passing mark for every piece of assessment within each course. Coursework content is delivered in mandatory day-long workshops/residential schools per course delivered in blocks over the semester, and attendance at all workshops/residential schools is required for eligibility to graduate.

Credit
Applications for exemptions/credit will be assessed according to USQ procedure. Students who have completed USQ鈥檚 Master of Professional Psychology may apply for exemptions for up to 8 courses.
