The Impacts of Cultural Burning on Plant and Fungal Communities

Working with Traditional Owners and Balonne Shire Council, the Masters of Research Project will investigate the impacts of cultural burning practices on invasive weed species, native species and soil fungi with the intention of undertaking a preliminary assessment of application of cultural burning to control weed species and restore ecological health in the council area. Through the project you will develop skills in research project management, field and laboratory research techniques and public and academic communication. The project will involve both field work (and associated travel) in addition to laboratory analysis. 
Stipend of AUD $32,000 per annum.
Maximum period of tenure of an award is three years. Periods of study already undertaken towards the degree will be deducted from the period of tenure.
