VBA (Victorian Building Authority) Research Grant Program
The VBA Board will decide which applications to fund and how much support (cash and/or in-kind) these will receive.
In determining the research grant amount, a range of issues will be considered including but not limited to, the scale and complexity of proposed research, the proposed resourcing, the strength of alignment to the VBA’s research priorities, and opportunities for other parties to contribute financial and/or in-kind support.
The research grant amount may comprise a cash and/or in-kind contribution from the VBA.
The cash component of the grant may be used for research expenses such as:
contributing towards the salary of researcher/s or research assistant/s (when working on the funded project)
small equipment costs (not large research infrastructure, or equipment that should be already provided by the institution)
travel and other costs associated with the conducting research and/or collecting data, and
hiring professional services, for example services to transcribe qualitative data, or to analyse quantitative data.
The cash component of the grant cannot be used for:
large equipment or research infrastructure that the education institution should provide
resources that have already been purchased
activities that have already taken place
research that is unrelated to the VBA’s strategic objectives, research focus or priorities, or
core organisational operating costs.
In-kind contributions may be through VBA employee time or other non-cash contributions.
Applications submitted in alternative formats will not be considered. The application form has been designed to assist applicants to address the VBA’s selection criteria and provide the information the VBA needs to assess applications.
Applicants should provide sufficient detail in their application to demonstrate that the selection criteria have been met.
The education institution must have an Australian Business Number and a bank account for Electronic Funds Transfer of grant funds.
