Overview

精东传媒apping midwifery at UniSQ will give you the skills to work in partnership with women antenatally during pregnancy, during and after the birth, and postnatally to support mothers transitioning to motherhood, helping them with breastfeeding and the care of their baby for the first six weeks of life.  

During your midwifery degree, you will:

  • combine online study with residential schools and over 1100 hours of midwifery practice experience with UniSQ's partner organisations,
  • experience the continuity of care of a minimum of 10 women throughout their pregnancy.

If you want to enhance your research skills and produce original contributions to the midwifery field, you have the opportunity to take your knowledge one step further and apply for a Master of Research or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree.

What will I learn in a midwifery degree?

The Graduate Diploma of Midwifery* degree will give you over 1100 hours of clinical experience in multiple settings, including hospitals, family planning clinics, community health and home visiting.

When you study a UniSQ midwifery program, you’ll have the opportunity to learn under the supervision of professionally registered midwives, caring for a minimum of 10 women during their pregnancy — in birth suites, antenatal clinics, and postnatal and neonatal units.
