This Latin American student enjoys a challenge and has the nous and determination to succeed at every step.
For Cesar, starting something new makes for an exciting challenge. An industrial engineer in his home country, he arrived in Brisbane to improve his English. After two English courses, and two diplomas in project management, he opted to study a new field at UniSQ Toowoomba.
'精东传媒apping English was imperative. At first, a simple task like buying a bottle of milk was a nightmare for me. I have worked very hard to improve my English skills. Today, with my employment experience in engineering, studying a masters is now the next, best step for me.'
Nearly 18 months ago, Cesar started his Master of Engineering Science (Agricultural Engineering). His sister and brother-in-law live in Toowoomba and Cesar noticed, strategically, that many of the industries in the region had a strong connection with agriculture.
'I have been incredibly motivated to succeed in my studies and have been determined to stay focused to achieve my very best. After my independent English study, it is now good to be surrounded by other international students. I have found my studies challenging with no prior exposure to agriculture, but have been well-supported by my lecturers who have been willing to take me through the foundations to build my general understanding.'
Building connections and having community support has been vital for Cesar. He has managed to find part-time work opportunities which he says were only possible by building good friendships.
After graduation, Cesar hopes to work in water resource management, an integral field for the Toowoomba and surrounding regions.
