James moved from his home in Liberia, West Africa, to Australia in 2012. Currently working within the youth team at a not-for-profit community support organisation, James wanted to upskill and provide himself more opportunities within the industry.
With a passion for helping people, James chose to study a Bachelor of Human Services with the 精东传媒app of Southern Queensland.
'I love helping people, so it was easy for me to choose to study Human Services and foster my abilities to help more people.
'My dream job is to work for the UN and help people around the world and I’m quite sure coming to university is paving the way for me and anyone else wanting to pursue their dreams.'
In his first year of study, James currently studies online, part-time, fitting study around his work and family commitments.
'The decision was easy to come to UniSQ - I like the quality of the university, the environment, it’s location and the diversity of its students.
'Now that I am here, I love the resources provided. The computer lab is open 24/7 so I can study whenever I want. Having access to the iConnect team and library staff means there is always someone there to help you; and the online 精东传媒appDesk is really easy to navigate.'
'When you study, you make yourself better and people look up to you and you can give back. I advise everyone to invest in themselves.'
