Participation in higher education
UniSQ is committed to widening the participation and accessibility of higher education in the community. Through a number of initiatives including equity programs, events, scholarships and education pathways, we aim to support employees and students to achieve their full potential.
Our student cohort is diverse, with 75% of our students choosing to study online. We also support a large mature-aged population as well as students from rural and remote areas, non-English speaking backgrounds, students with disability and students from low socio-economic status backgrounds. To assist these groups in accessing higher education, we offer a range of pathway programs.
UniSQ is dedicated to encouraging and supporting the further education of our First Nations community. We provide various types of support services, programs and initiatives for our First Nations community including:
We recognise that our students are entering an ever-changing and increasingly competitive workforce. To support and prepare our students in making the transition from university to employment, we offer a range of career development support services including our:
- Career Mentoring Program that allows students to enhance their skill set, network and learn about their chosen industry under the guidance of an experienced industry professional.
- which is a self-paced resource on career planning which begins by focusing on what a career
actually is, how the workforce operates and what skills you need to be successful.
- Understanding who you are, your values, strengths, interests and your career influences will help you make an informed decision about your study and career pathways.
- The modules are self-paced and you can log in as many times as you need to access the information, videos and activities.
At UniSQ, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to access higher education. Find out the support we offer to incarcerated students and Education Officers.
