Rationale

Students entering the ICT (Information Communication Technologies) project management domain should be able to apply and review evolving management frameworks, taking into consideration new technologies, tools, techniques, personnel and the implications associated with new projects. This course enables students to successfully manage ICT projects. It is the only course with a focus on ICT project management issues, consequently it is essential if students wish to engage in ICT project management.

Synopsis

The course introduces and reviews IS project management frameworks. Participants will learn about the IS management frameworks and the ten project management knowledge areas across the project management lifecycle of initiation, planning, executing, controlling and closing. The course will also examine critical aspects of IS/ICT management, security management, change management and ethical considerations.

Objectives

On successful completion of this course students should be able to:

  1. Explain and apply core concepts associated with ICT project management and project management framework;
  2. Create and develop a project plan based on industry needs;
  3. Critically select and apply appropriate project management software;
  4. Explain the ethical implications associated with ICT project management;
  5. Collaborate and effectively communicate with peers/team members to share ideas;
  6. Utilise skills and knowledge to successfully manage an ICT project.
