Students are required to have prior knowledge and experience of analytical research methods, that is, a basic understanding of statistics.
Synopsis
This course is designed as an introduction to applied research for information systems professionals. Students cover the fundamentals of research relating to management information systems, and investigate, synthesise and communicate information to inform management information systems decisions. The course is designed to build foundation skills for students to successfully conduct applied information systems research that employs both quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods.
Objectives
On successful completion of this course students should be able to:
- evaluate strategies for the solution of applied research problems in information systems;
- demonstrate an understanding of applied research methods;
- collect and analyse information systems research data using applied research methods;
- synthesise and communicate information systems research information to inform business decisions.
