Students may only enrol in this course with the prior approval of the Program Coordinator.
Students must be available for a prescribed period of time to undertake a placement in a school or other approved site as required in this course.

State law in Queensland (Australia) requires that all adults working/undertaking professional experience/researching with children under the age of 18, in the state of Queensland must hold a valid Blue Card OR Exemption Card
If undertaking placement outside of Queensland you must ensure that all relevant checks are completed and evidence of this is provided to the Professional Experience office

Rationale

This course enables students to complete up to 10 days of Professional Experience in a school setting as per the requirements of the externally approved Bachelor of Early Childhood (BECH) or Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) programs.

Synopsis

Enrolment in this course is a negotiated enrolment to ensure students meet the Professional Experience requirements in a school setting as specified in the Bachelor of early Childhood (BECH) or Bachelor of Education (BEDU) Early Childhood programs approved by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and/or the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT). Students will be required to undertake teaching tasks and responsibilities as outlined in the USQ Professional Experience Book relevant to this in-school placement.

Professional Experience should be conducted as per the Professional Experience Calendar unless approval has been granted by the Program Coordinator. Students must complete up to 10 days of Professional Experience in a school setting.

However, it is the students’ responsibility to participate appropriately in all activities including discussion fora scheduled for them, and to study all material provided to them or required to be accessed by them to maximise their chance of meeting the objectives of the course and to be informed of course-related activities and administration.

    To satisfactorily complete this course the student must complete assessment component successfully.

    To be assured of receiving a passing grade a student must satisfactorily complete the component.

    As P is the only passing grade available for this course, all students who are qualified for a passing grade will be given a grade of P. Other students will be given either a Failing grade or an Incomplete or RN grade.
