Rationale
Graduates in a variety of disciplines will increasingly be expected to have a basic familiarity with digital and multimedia technology as an important part of their professional preparation, particularly the key issues raised in the development of animation in its variety of forms.
Synopsis
A comprehensive, specialist course designed to develop professional CG animation skills for digital artists through production-focused learning environments. Students will develop a solid awareness of the processes involved in creating short animated sequences from first principles through to complete rendered sequences.
Objectives
On completion of this course students should be able to:
- define and develop methodologies of storytelling and narrative structures for animation;
- use a variety of techniques to animate objects used in contemporary animated films, television and computer games;
- understand animation from first principles;
- demonstrate communication skills appropriate to the profession by producing an exercise portfolio;
- demonstrate creativity, initiative and enterprise by creating a motion sequence as part of the exercise portfolio.
