Synopsis

Full-time candidates undertaking research in Biology, Engineering, Physics or Psychology should enrol in this course for each semester of their candidature. This will normally be for a total of two semesters.

Important assessment information

  1. Attendance requirements:
    There are no attendance requirements for this course. However, it is the student鈥檚 responsibility to maintain regular contact with their supervisory team to discuss their research progress.

  2. Requirements for students to complete each assessment item satisfactorily:
    Progress Reports: to complete the Progress Report satisfactorily, students must fill out the report in consultation with their supervisor. As part of their research program, students are expected to demonstrate satisfactory progress.

    Dissertation: To successfully complete a Dissertation, students must receive a passing grade and have undertaken the requested revisions.

  3. Penalties for late submission of required work:
    Students should refer to the Assessment Procedure (point 4.2.4)

  4. Requirements for student to be awarded a passing grade in the course:
    Progress Report: HDR students must submit a progress report and deemed to be making Satisfactory Progress by the supervisor and ADR to receive a SP grade.

    Dissertation: At the end of the candidature students are required to submit a dissertation for examination, receive a passing grade and satisfactorily address the revisions for the degree to be awarded.
