Rationale
This course is part of a series of Practice courses that are intended to enable students to develop and acquire survey and professional practice skills. Students attend a residential school and undertake practical and laboratory activities associated with key knowledge and professional practices in surveying. The intention is to develop the technical and professional skills necessary to practice in industry and to verify competency in those areas.
Synopsis
This course provides students with a core of professional skills required for the practical applications of Surveying and Spatial Science in the workplace. Students will have the opportunity to complete a series of workshops that reflects best practice for practical application in industry. This course contains a mandatory residential school for external students and mandatory on-campus laboratories or practical classes for on-campus students.
Objectives
The course objectives define the student learning outcomes for a course. On completion of this course, students should be able to:
- complete surveying practical exercises to a standard of professional practice encompassing theoretical skills and practices learned in photogrammetry and remote sensing, construction and cadastral surveying;
- demonstrate professional skills, reporting and documentation in professional practice;
- communicate results and conclusions effectively as a team through a written report;
