Rationale
Students preparing for careers as professional actors need to apply their developing skills and methodologies across a range of styles and genres purposed for either the live or digital performance environments.
Synopsis
This course involves students in the rehearsal and performance of a range of Australian plays and screenplays. Material from the plays is performed for the live environment. Material from the screenplays is performed for the digital environment.
Objectives
On successful completion of this course students should be able to:
- apply relevant skills and knowledge to produce and realise theatrical performance work (TLO 3);
- work independently and collaboratively to implement practice and advanced rehearsal techniques and processes (TLO 5);
- employ cognitive and creative skills to identify, analyse and devise solutions to performance problems (TLO 2);
- critically examine the practice, languages, forms, materials techniques and technologies in the development and performance of creative work (TLO 1).

In view of the Objectives and the development of skills that they entail, students are strongly advised to attend all classes. Failure to do so may result in an eventual Fail grade as it may prove impossible to complete the assessment tasks central to this course. Depending upon the reasons for inadequate performance of assessment tasks, additional make-up work may be set if students are able to substantiate frequent absences or absences of more than two consecutive classes via a medical certificate.
