Rationale
Students in their final year of preparation for careers as professional actors need to apply their prior learning to a diverse range of texts within intensive practice-led projects resulting in public outcomes. Combined with rigorous processes of critical reflection and assessment these experiences are purposed to develop the students’ methodological skills, conceptual and theoretical understandings and practice to an industry-entry level standard.
Synopsis
Students will rehearse and present a Shakespeare performance work(s) as a part of the annual Shakespeare Festival. This project may involve live performance, touring and video/digital recording work.
Objectives
On successful completion of this course students should be able to:
- adapt performance work and creative decision-making for different genres, styles and audiences (TLO 3);
- effectively communicate their performance to a range of audiences (TLO 4);
- apply their prior learning to a diverse range of texts within intensive practice-led projects resulting in public outcomes (TLO 3);
- management and organisational skills necessary to work in the live and digital mediums to a standard approaching industry entry level requirements;
- demonstrate a growing level of autonomy by working with others to initiate working processes, skills and creative thinking in their field of practice (TLO 5).
