Overview

The capability to confidently diagnose and discern patterns and relationships in business data is essential for senior leaders to identify areas that can increase business value. Senior leaders need to be able to apply a critical mindset to the interrogation of financial and performance data and to their interactions with data providers and users. The ability to confidently know the strengths and weaknesses of performance metrics and how to apply these tools to achieve the organisation鈥檚 purpose requires agile and strategic leadership.

This course will provide you with the opportunity to build capacity to fluently and confidently interact with and direct the financial and business analysis sections of the organisation. This course prepares you to be able to interrogate data and information to diagnose organisational performance and identify opportunities. Knowing your data and their relationship to organisational performance is a skill that strategic leaders need to be comfortable with. This course will help you move from operational thinking to strategic thinking through developing a sophisticated approach to issues of financial and performance analysis.

Course learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course students should be able to:

  1. Critically apply financial and performance management theories, models and frameworks that inform the use of data to determine business performance
  2. Interrogate, interpret and synthesise complex data to diagnose organisational performance
  3. Formulate and present information about the current position and performance of the business
  4. Collaborate effectively to achieve required organisational outcomes.
