Overview
TPP7122 provides students from diverse backgrounds with an introduction to the culture and practices of a contemporary university community. The course focuses on developing the attributes, concepts, knowledge and skills required to engage effectively with university texts, systems, services, discourses, policies and processes. Students will develop a range of knowledge, skills and strategies that will help them acculturate to higher education learning contexts, develop their confidence as self-managed learners, and achieve success in future studies.
This course will provide an introduction to learning at university. Students will engage with university study and develop a range of skills, strategies, and knowledge to help them engage effectively in university learning contexts. Students will have the opportunity to reflect on previous and current learning experiences, consider the challenges encountered by students transitioning to university study, and learn a range of strategies to address these challenges. Learning experiences will focus on developing the skills and knowledge necessary for achieving academic success in future studies, through effective engagement with academic texts, university systems, services, policies, processes, and practices. Student learning will be assessed through a portfolio of tasks and a series of quizzes requiring active engagement with course materials.
Course learning outcomes
On successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Reflect on past and current learning experiences to identify the nature and impact of changes likely to affect students’ transition to university study and discuss appropriate strategies for managing these changes.
