Overview

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Aviation (Flight Operations Major) are required to show evidence of completion of a Diploma of Aviation (CPLA) or (CPLH) as specified in the program requirements of the handbook. While students undertake flight training at an appropriate flight training institution, a ‘shell’ course is required to ensure the progress of students in their flight training is tracked.

The completion of the Diploma of Aviation (CPLA) or (CPLH) is intended to allow students to gain the practical flight skills and professional flight certification required to be employed as a commercial pilot. Students should also review the program handbook to consider additional requirements that may be required to enhance employability opportunities for future roles as a commercial pilot in Australia.

Co-enrolment in the Diploma of Aviation (CPLA) or (CPLH) at an appropriate flight training school is required. The completion of the Diploma of Aviation (CPLA) or (CPLH) is intended to allow students to gain the practical flight skills and professional flight certification required to be employed as a commercial pilot. However, it is understood that student progress in flight training is individual and dependant of a range of factors including (but not limited to): completion of relevant theoretical exams, weather, flight training school schedules and aircraft availability etc. As such, topics, objectives, reference materials, assessment activities and the requirements to pass the course will differ from student to student, depending on the flight training progress.
