Overview
This course seeks to develop students' skills in relation to procurement methods used in construction projects. Students will learn about processes and how to deal with risks involved in procurement. They will also demonstrate basic understanding and proficiency with contract law, construction management, quantity measurement and construction estimating - these are knowledge areas covered in other courses.
Course learning outcomes
The course objectives define the student learning outcomes for a course. On completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Evaluate various project delivery systems used in the construction industry;
- Outline suitable approaches which may be used to manage the delivery of traditional and complex construction projects;
- Outline tendering procedures used in different procurement routes in construction projects;
- Prepare tender documents for construction and building projects;
- Design and implement contract administration systems for construction and building projects particularly from a commercial perspective.
