Overview
This is the entry point to provide orientation to UniSQ, self-guided learning at Masters level and program outcomes to attain; UniSQ student support services, administrative processes, and general Toowoomba region.
This term-based block intensive program is to further orientate entering international students to Australian culture, brief history, indigenous professional orientation, workplace culture/statutory requirements, professional engineer's statutory and ethical responsibilities and accreditation processes, including free student membership in Engineers Australia. Further, to ensure the student can begin to practice, develop and apply these requirements, an equivalent of 3 weeks virtual WIL engineering experience in a typical consultant engineering environment will be to participate and further research, development and innovation in the intergenerational student cohort design of a lunar space habitat; i.e. to use UniSQ student resources for technical design, development of a conceptual plan topic area, and then execute the development team management/leadership experience, develop oral English and written reporting and presentation skills in the reference framework of Australian industry.
This intensive residential school-based course is to provide international engineering graduates of an equivalent to a 3 year Australian Engineering Degree, the awareness and orientation to UniSQ education systems, master's student professional expectations. It is also to provide professional development awareness, statutory and cultural orientation into the Australian societal and workplace legal framework, professional engineers statutory and ethical responsibilities and how to plan their professional career and future industry-based accreditation.
Course learning outcomes
- Use of UniSQ Student support services and resources;
- Practice/develop their engineering professionality in the Australian cultural and Workplace environment;
- Undertake challenging engineering consultants' team-based virtual work experience working under and with senior industry recognised Chartered Professional Engineers;
- Understand the MENS program structure and be prepared and plan for their subsequent linked Schedule A courses EBE5003, EBE6411, EBE6412 and EBE6002 designed to develop their technical competence and engineering professional development.
