Overview
Location Production 2 continues developing the identity of professional filmmakers in the discipline of location filmmaking. This course expands on knowledge and technical skills gained in FSP1001 Location Production 1 and FSP1003 Editing.
Location Production 2 forms the basis of much film and screen production in the 21st century. In this course students will apply further theory and technical skills required for single camera location production in the context of entry-level industry genres such as promotional, advertising and training films as authentic assessment.
This course is a pre-requisite for course for FSP2001 Documentary Production and Reality TV.
This course introduces students to creating screen-based media for clients. Students will learn about the importance of working towards a creative brief, communicating their creative ideas with a client, reacting to client demands and, ultimately, negotiating through the creative process in a professional, respectful and effective manner. Students will complete a series of authentic assessment tasks based on industry practice in film making that reflect industry aligned skills and current knowledge.
Course learning outcomes
On successful completion of this course students should be able to:
- Apply advanced theoretical concepts and technical skills in specific creative contexts as these pertains to camera, lighting and audio recording in a location environment.
- Respond to client brief.
- Apply technical skills and knowledge to achieve client brief.
- Respond to the requirements of working in a crew on a location film set.
- Plan, problem-solve, and make decisions related to professional requirements while working in a location environment.
