Overview

Healthcare is a rapidly changing and dynamic area. Educators within healthcare face challenges in providing learning opportunities with limited access to staff and limited resources. These issues require innovative strategies supported by strong evidence to promote learning that supports employees and students to learn. Professional learning undertaken by staff needs to be reported on for accreditation purposes.

Students will critically analyse evidence to determine innovative strategies to provide learning in their work context. The strategies will be reviewed in relation to recognised theories of learning and developed into learning opportunities to be provide within the organisation. In this course students will learn to link learning outcomes acquired from innovative strategies to accreditation standards.

Course learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course students should be able to:

  1. Critically review the relevant literature to identify the benefits and challenges of introducing innovative learning strategies;
  2. Critically review and implement learning strategies that meet the needs of learners within the learning environment;
  3. Identify the changing demands of professional learning;
  4. Develop learning strategies that reflect learning theory as it relates to practice;
  5. Evaluate clinical education practices conducted in the workplace;
  6. Review and report on learning strategies in relation to accreditation requirements of the organisation.
