Overview

In Semester 3, 2023 this course will be delivered as a Transition (9 week) semester, commencing on 13 November 2023 and concluding on 12 January 2024.

The course is intended to provide students with a core of basic industrial skills required for the practical applications of Surveying and Spatial Science in the workplace. Students will complete four workshops in cadastral surveying, cadastral law and reinstatement; photogrammetry and GIS; post-processed GNSS and GNSS network exercises. This course contains a mandatory residential school for external students and mandatory on-campus laboratories or practical classes for on-campus students.

Course learning outcomes

The course objectives define the student learning outcomes for a course. Depending on their selection, on completion of this course, students should be able to:

  1. complete surveying practical exercises to a standard of professional practice encompassing theoretical skills and practices taught in advanced cadastral surveying, photogrammetry and remote sensing and geodetic survey network;
  2. demonstrate professional skills, reporting and documentation in professional practice;
  3. communicate results and conclusions effectively as a team through a written report or presentation;
  4. undertake critical self-review and reflection against course objectives as a primary means of tracking personal development needs and achievements;
  5. perform appropriate work health and safety assessments.
