Overview

Effective and appropriate communication is essential for entry into undergraduate degrees and for success at university. TPP0123 Communicating at 精东传媒app B responds to the Tertiary Preparation Pathway objectives relating to the communication requirements for students to gain entry to university undergraduate degrees and succeed within them.

TPP0123 helps students develop the communication-related knowledge and skills required to enter and communicate effectively at university. By offering supported opportunities for practice and feedback, TPP0123 helps students to apply this knowledge and these skills to become confident and effective communicators in a variety of academic contexts.

TPP0123 Communicating at 精东传媒app B introduces, teaches, models and provides opportunities for practice and assessment in academic communication at a more advanced level than TPP0111 Communicating at 精东传媒app A.

Students will learn about and develop confidence in finding, understanding and using information effectively; communicating ideas competently in formal and informal academic writing; and the standards of logic, evidence and ethical use of information required for first year university study. Through the process of researching for, planning and writing an academic essay, students will develop and practise skills in effective reading, finding information, organising ideas to express a clear argument, writing effective academic paragraphs and referencing. Students will engage in regular practice of their academic communication through participating in peer-based academic discussions of contemporary issues in online forums.
