Synopsis

Students satisfy the Workplace Portfolio requirements of the Master of Engineering Practice program by satisfactorily completing two courses: this course, and the subsequent course ENG8308 Industrial Project. Students may undertake the courses in any order but overall must demonstrate all of the competencies outlined in ENG8300 Self Assessment Portfolio. Together, these courses are designed to enable students to use the knowledge and skills they have gained in the workplace to demonstrate (a) compliance with Engineers Australia's Stage 1 competencies, and (b) compliance with the discipline specific competencies defined in their Self-assessment Portfolio in the course ENG8300. The competencies outlined in this course are mapped to Stage 2 competencies, and hence, could be used as preparation to submit Engineering Competency Claims (ECCs) to Engineers Australia's eChartered upon graduating from the MEPR program. During this course, students will prepare the ECCs that were defined in their Self-assessment Portfolio in the course ENG8300. In addition, students will start writing the literature review component of the ENG8308 industry project as proposed in ENG8300. In each ECC, students will demonstrate their achievement of one or more of the competencies, or, as they are described in EA documents, "Elements". The information in each ECC must be verified by a professional engineer or equivalent when the final version is submitted. When completed, the portfolio or claim should demonstrate that the student has achieved the required Elements that they indicated would be addressed in ENG8300 Self Assessment Portfolio.
