Synopsis

In this course students are introduced to an evidence-based approach to delivering safe and effective nursing care including research process within empirical and naturalistic research paradigms to provide the foundation for understanding common research methods used in nursing and health care. Students acquire foundational knowledge regarding common nursing research methods, skill in conducting electronic database searches, the ability to critically read the scholarly literature, and an introduction to the application of evidence-based practice in nursing and health care. A brief introduction to qualitative and quantitative data analysis is provided to facilitate critical appraisal of research findings and recommendations.
