Synopsis

In this course students are allocated to a clinical placement setting and undertake 160 hours of professional experience placement. Students learn concepts and skills related to acute care including pre and post-operative management, therapeutic communication skills, critical thinking, medication administration, team collaboration, reflection, clinical handover and decision making. The clinical practicum experience enables students to work within settings caring for individuals with acute medical and surgical conditions and to apply their learning to professional nursing practice.
