Overview

Registered Nurses in an Advanced Practice role are required to have the knowledge and skills to use extended and expanded skills and knowledge to make critical, clinical decisions that impact on positive patient outcomes.
This course provides the foundational knowledge to enable the advanced practice nurse to work within their scope of practice and within legislative requirements, and Australian Nursing and Midwifery board guidelines and standards to achieve quality patient outcomes.

This course facilitates the student to apply advanced nursing competency domains in decision making to ensure safe and accountable practice. In this course the student will examine the clinical reasoning required of the advanced practice nurse and the application of best practice principles to achieve quality outcomes. Students will examine the legislation, professional guidelines and standards, and local governance which impacts their scope of practice.
