Overview

Aircraft operations refer to the ground and airborne movement of aircraft either in controlled or uncontrolled airspace. Although there are different types of operations that demand varying complexity, fundamentals of planning and operating aircraft involving a variety of technical and non-technical skills with a strong theoretical knowledge and understanding to plan and monitor such operations remain unchanged. This course builds upon the knowledge and skills developed from the course (AVN1102 General Aviation Knowledge) to further develop principles associated with aircraft limitations and weight and balance, performance calculation and pre-flight planning.

In this course, students will further develop their understanding of operations, performance and planning for a light aeroplane commonly found in General Aviation. The course provides theoretical knowledge and an opportunity to expand students' ability to plan a small charter operation. To better understanding overall aircraft operations students will also require a knowledge of aerodynamics meteorology general flight planning and aircraft performance that was covered in AVN1102 General Aviation Knowledge. Students will continue to investigate, and be able to incorporate, the requirements of discipline and professionalism in this industry concomitantly with other first year courses.
