Overview

In the era of digital innovation, students need to develop an understanding of enterprise systems that enable organisations to implement consistent business processes using an integrated software suite, also known as enterprise systems, in all organisational units such as finance, procurement, human resources and marketing. Students must have a working knowledge of a process-centric perspective that reflects the operations of the modern business environment. Enterprise systems are not only tightly integrated with business operations, they increasingly provide decision support for managers at tactical and strategic levels. Students need to execute and manage business processes using enterprise systems that are widely used in organisations of all sizes.

This course provides business, commerce and information technology students with the opportunity to explore enterprise systems concepts, and learn how these systems are being used by enterprises for decision-making and supporting their business operations. Students will identify implementation strategies of enterprise systems, and discuss how an integrated approach to business processes is facilitated by the use of enterprise systems. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of enterprise information systems, including enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management (SCM), and business process reengineering (BPR). Students will apply their knowledge gained in this course through practical work using industry-leading enterprise systems tools, case studies and research report writing.

NOTE: Learners undertaking this course are required to have the ability to research with an understanding of ethical research practices.
